About Jennifer P. Naperala
I was born into a blue-collar family of sheet-metal workers and firefighters, so I grew up working hard, communicating directly, and collaborating effectively. I brought those skills and my family to Chesapeake in 1996, where I've been teaching English & Social Studies for Chesapeake Public Schools since 2000. I'm a union member, advocate of collective bargaining, and content creator for NEA & VEA; an awardee of the Oath of Office badge; an Executive Board Member of the Cornland School Foundation; and a member of the CDW and NAACP. My involvement in local politics is the consequence of my advocacy: when citizens (among whom was I) are requesting reasonable and responsible actions from their elected leaders, they should be responded to in kind. That hasn't been our experience, so we keep working. Despite the successes I have enjoyed from my various efforts, the best thing I've done is raise amazing people: Avery, Aaron, and Alison.
