About Gleamer L. Sullivan
I graduated from Clemson University with a degree in Financial Management and practiced as a Financial Advisor. I founded and directed a successful private school. Throughout my life I have worked in customer service in one way or another, which is a huge part of the job I am interviewing for now. My husband and I moved to Grottoes and purchased our home, a tiny fixer upper on 17th Street, 25 years ago. We raised our 2 kids here. They loved the library and librarian, Mrs Keeler, they adored the parks and the pool, they learned to drive here, and first voted at Grottoes Town Hall after coming with their parents each year since they were tiny. I have spent quite a bit of time at Grottoes Town Hall. I attend every Grottoes Town meeting that I possibly can. If there is a Streets and Street Lights Committee meeting at 10am on a Friday morning, I am there. One reason why I am running to represent you on Grottoes Town Council is because I know that most residents don't have the bandwidth to read all the documents and attend all the meetings. As a Town Council member I will work with my fellow Councilors and town staff to make Grottoes Town information more accessible and digestible. I began to participate in the inner workings of our town when I served on the Grottoes Planning Commission as the chair of the Comprehensive Planning Committee where I was instrumental in having the highest rate of response to a community survey that the Central Shenandoah Planning District Commission ever had. After my time on the Planning Commission ended, I suggested content for and read and reread the nearly 200 pages of the Grottoes Comprehensive Plan, advocating for accurate and useful information to be included and sources to be cited. If elected as a Grottoes Town Council member, look forward to continuing this important work.
