On the ballot for Virginia's November 3, 2026 election.

About Randy W. Hamm Jr.

Randy Hamm lives in Wytheville with his wife, Deborah, and their children. He serves on the Town Planning Commission and is running for Town Council this November. He spent 20 years in the Navy, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer in 2020, and now works locally. He started speaking at Council meetings after watching too many decisions arrive with little public notice and little explanation. That is the core of his campaign: transparency, accountability, and common sense. He wants votes explained in plain language, officials who say the same thing in public that they said in private, and town money pointed at local businesses and working families instead of one-off, council member directed special projects. On the economy, Hamm wants more locally owned shops and restaurants, more reasons for people to spend evenings and weekends in town, and a practical way to put small grants in the hands of people building businesses here and filling vacant retail spaces. He also favors working with the county on sports and visitor traffic the town already has at the I-81 and I-77 crossroads. The goal is simple: give families a reason to stay and give visitors a reason to stop.
