About J. Matt Baker
I'm Matt Baker -- a Naval Academy graduate, retired Marine Colonel, and grid-modernization engineer running as an independent for Virginia's 2nd District. My wife and I have called Tidewater home for 14 years, raising three kids here. I spent 28 years as a Marine infantry officer, commanding 1,200 Marines and Sailors in combat in Afghanistan's Helmand Province, and deploying to Desert Storm and Iraq. After the Marine Corps, I earned an MBA at ODU and spent a decade modernizing power infrastructure for utilities and the Department of Defense, most recently as VP of Grid Modernization at Typhoon HIL. Neither party alone can be trusted to govern this district honestly, so I'm running as an independent. This campaign takes no PAC money -- not corporate, not party, not billionaire super PACs. I answer to VA-02, not to a party.
