About Jonathan M. Arritt

I'm a lifelong resident of the Alleghany Highlands and a third-generation funeral director. My wife Mandy and I live in Covington with our two children, Landon (2025 Alleghany High School graduate) and Eva (freshman at AHS). My father, David, instilled in me the belief that serving others is one of the highest goals a person can have. I joined the Covington City School Board in 2019 and was directly involved in the consolidation of Covington City and Alleghany County Public Schools. Since then I have served as co-chair of the Joint School Services Committee, vice-chair of the Covington City School Board, chairman of the Joint Board of Control for the Jackson River Technical Center, and both vice-chairman and chairman of the Alleghany Highlands School Board (appointed 2022), along with various committees. In my spare time I enjoy the outdoors--mostly golf these days--and spending time with my family and our two dogs, Otto and Murphy.
