About Patrick R. Jensen
I am a career prosecutor with nearly 23 years of experience serving the Commonwealth of Virginia. Following a brief period in private practice in Northern Virginia, I began my prosecutorial career in 2003 as an Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney in the City of Martinsville, where I was later promoted to Deputy Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney. I subsequently served briefly in the City of Roanoke Commonwealth's Attorney's Office before joining the Montgomery County Commonwealth's Attorney's Office in 2007. In Montgomery County, I have spent nearly two decades prosecuting criminal cases and working closely with law enforcement, victims, and community partners. In 2012, when Mary Pettitt was elected Commonwealth's Attorney, she promoted me to be her Chief Deputy. In that role, I have helped manage and supervise the county's largest law office while continuing to prosecute criminal cases. Since joining the office in 2007, I have handled thousands of criminal cases, ranging from routine offenses to complex and high-profile matters. My career has given me the opportunity to serve this community in virtually every aspect of the criminal justice system. I am honored to continue that service as Montgomery County's Commonwealth's Attorney. I graduated Virginia Tech with a bachelor's degree in History in 1996 and from the University of Dayton School of Law, with honors, in 2002. I have called Montgomery County my home since 2007 and have resided in the Town of Christiansburg since 2010.
