About P. Doug Kanipe
I grew up in rural Western North Carolina. I met my wife Elizabeth while living in Atlanta where we got married and lived for several years. We moved to Radford in 2004 for me to take a new role at Kollmorgen. My wife has been a volunteer in the schools and with high school sports teams, substitutes, and serves on the Board for the Radford Athletic Boosters. I have two sons that have graduated from Radford High School. Alex just graduated from Butler University and is pursuing a career in baseball. Max is currently attending NC State University pursuing an engineering degree. I am most often recognized as Max's dad as he was the All-State receiver #18 for the 2023 state championship football team. For the last 9 years and continuing today, I serve in a voluntary role as Video Coordinator to record game video and statistics for the RHS football team. I also have volunteered time to video for the basketball team and scorekeeping for the baseball team. In addition, I coached many rec and travel teams as my boys were coming through those programs.
